Ask AI (bring your own key)

Write, rewrite, shorten, translate or summarise descriptions with AI, using your workspace's own API key.

Ask AI helps with the text of a task description: write a first draft, improve it, fix spelling and grammar, make it shorter or longer, summarise it, turn it into a checklist, translate it, or ask a question about it.

It uses your workspace's own API key from Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), Mistral or xAI (Grok). Your workspace pays the provider directly for what it uses; JinkoUp adds no markup and no extra fee.

Turn it on (admins)

  1. 1Create an API key with your provider (each provider's console has an API keys page).
  2. 2In JinkoUp, open Settings → AI writing assistant.
  3. 3Pick the provider, paste the key and, if you like, a model name. Leave the model empty for a sensible default.
  4. 4Click Test to make a tiny request and check the key works, then Save and turn on.

Most providers let you set a monthly spending limit on the key. Setting one is a good idea.

Use it

  1. 1Open a task and click Ask AI next to Description.
  2. 2Pick what you want, for example Make shorter or Translate to…. For Write… and Ask anything, type a short instruction.
  3. 3Check the result, then choose Replace, Insert below, Copy or Try again.

Nothing changes until you choose Replace or Insert below, and you can undo with the editor's undo button afterwards.

What's sent, and when

  • Only the text you ask about, plus your instruction, and only when you click an action. Nothing is sent in the background.
  • It goes straight from JinkoUp's server to your provider. The provider's own API data policy applies.
  • Results are kept simple (paragraphs, lists, bold and italic), so pasted results can't carry hidden code.

Security

  • The key is stored encrypted and is never shown again or sent to anyone's browser. Settings only shows its last four characters, to admins.
  • Only admins can add, change or remove the key; every change is recorded in the workspace audit log.
  • To switch AI off, click Remove key. To stop the key everywhere, also revoke it in your provider's console.
  • Each person can make up to 30 AI requests every 10 minutes.
