Related tasks and blockers

Link tasks across projects: mark what a task is blocked by, what it blocks, or just that two tasks are related.

Any task can link to other tasks in the workspace, in the same project or a different one. Links show in the Related tasks section of the task window.

  1. 1Open a task and find Related tasks (below the files).
  2. 2Click Add.
  3. 3Choose Blocked by (this task waits on the other), Blocking (the other task waits on this one) or Related to.
  4. 4Search for the other task by its title and click it.

The link shows on both tasks: if Task A is blocked by Task B, Task B lists Task A under Blocking.

Blocked tasks

While a task it's blocked by is still open, the section shows a Blocked by N open tasks warning. It goes away when every blocker is completed.

Two tasks can't block each other. Remove the old link first if the order changed.

  • Click a linked task's title to open it.
  • Hover a link and click × to remove it. Removing it from one task removes it from both.

You only see and link tasks you can see. A link to a task in a private project you're not in stays hidden from you. Adding and removing links is recorded in the task's activity.
