Dashboards
Track progress, deadlines, workload and budgets with widgets, for one project or across all of them.
Dashboards turn your tasks into counters, charts and lists that update as the work changes. There are two kinds:
- Project dashboard: the Dashboard view of a project. It covers that project's tasks.
- Team dashboards: under Dashboards in the sidebar. They cover every project you can see, and each widget can focus on one project.
Open a project's dashboard
Open a project and choose Dashboard in the view switcher. The first time, it shows a ready-made set of widgets: open, completed and overdue counts, progress by stage, priorities, completed per week, owners and deadlines (plus a budget when the project has a Number or Currency field).
Add, arrange and configure widgets
- 1Click Add widget and pick one from the library.
- 2Hover a widget and click ⋯ to open Settings…, change its Width (1, 2 or 3 columns), Move earlier / Move later, Duplicate or Remove it.
- 3Drag a widget by the handle to the left of its title to move it. With the keyboard, focus the handle, press Space, use the arrow keys, then press Space again.
Changes are saved straight away and everyone sees the same layout.
The widget library
| Group | Widgets |
|---|---|
| Counters | Open tasks, Completed tasks, Overdue, Due in the next 7 days, Unassigned, Completed in the last 7 days |
| Progress | Progress (% done), Progress by stage |
| Charts | Tasks by stage, owner, priority, label, project (team dashboards) or any Dropdown, Multi-select, Person or Checkbox field; Due date status; Completed per week; Created vs completed; Workload by owner |
| Lists | Overdue tasks, Upcoming deadlines (click a task to open it) |
| Budget | Budget (sum, average, minimum or maximum of a Number or Currency field, with an optional target and % used), Totals by group (a Number or Currency field added up for each option of a Dropdown field) |
| Other | Notes, Recent activity |
Charts count open tasks by default. In a widget's Settings…, choose Tasks → All tasks or Completed tasks to change that.
Track a budget
- 1Add a Currency (or Number) custom field to the project, for example Cost, and fill it in on your tasks.
- 2On the dashboard, click Add widget → Budget.
- 3Choose the field, Sum, and type your budget in Target / budget. The widget shows the total, the % used and how much is left (or over).
To see where the money goes, add Totals by group and group the same field by a Dropdown field such as Category or Team.
Notes
The Notes widget holds text for the team. Start a line with # for a heading or - for a bullet, and use **bold**, *italic* and [link text](https://…).
Team dashboards
- 1Click Dashboards in the sidebar.
- 2Type a name and click Create dashboard. It starts with workload, deadline and per-project widgets.
- 3Use a widget's Settings… → Project to focus it on one project, or leave All projects.
Everyone in the workspace can open a team dashboard. Each person only sees numbers for the projects they can see, so private projects stay private.
Who can change dashboards
- Project dashboards: anyone who can see the project (the same people who can edit its tasks).
- Team dashboards: workspace admins, and members whose role includes Create and edit team dashboards (members have it by default). Others can view them.
