Private projects and sharing
Limit a project to the people you choose.
Projects are visible to everyone in the workspace by default. Make a project private to keep it to a chosen group, for example for HR, finance or a client.
Make a project private
- 1Open the project and click Share in the header.
- 2Choose Private (“Only people you choose”).
- 3Tick the members who should have access. The project owner always has access.
- 4Click Save.
Private projects show a lock in the sidebar and a Private badge in the header.
Who can see a private project
- Only the owner and the people you ticked. Workspace admins don't automatically see private projects they aren't part of.
- Only people with access can be assigned tasks, picked in Person fields or @mentioned.
- Search, AI assistants, calendar feeds, Slack, webhooks and the API all respect the same rules.
Only the project owner or a workspace admin can change sharing. To open the project to everyone again, choose Workspace in the Share dialog.
