Import projects from Asana, Trello, Monday and more

Bring a project in from a CSV or Excel export (Asana, Monday, ClickUp, Jira, Notion, spreadsheets) or a Trello board, with stages, subtasks and custom fields.

Workspace admins can create a project from another tool's export in a few minutes. You see a preview of everything before anything is created, and you can undo the import for 7 days.

1. Export from your current tool

ToolHow to export
AsanaOpen the project → the arrow next to its name → Export / Print → CSV.
Monday.comOpen the board → ⋯ (top right) → Export board to Excel.
ClickUpOpen the list or space → ⋯ → Export → CSV.
JiraRun a filter for the issues you want → Export → Export CSV (all fields).
NotionOpen the database as a full page → ⋯ → Export → Markdown & CSV, then use the .csv file.
TrelloOpen the board → ⋯ Menu → Print, export and share → Export as JSON.
SpreadsheetsSave as .csv or .xlsx, with one task per row and column names in the first row. Start from our sample CSV: it shows every column JinkoUp understands (stage, assignee, due date, priority, labels, subtasks, custom fields, attachments and comments).

2. Import it

  1. 1Open Projects and click Import.
  2. 2Choose CSV or Excel (for Asana, Monday, ClickUp, Jira, Notion and spreadsheets) or Trello, then drop the file in (up to 4 MB and 5,000 tasks). For Asana you can also connect directly (below).
  3. 3CSV and Excel only: check where each column goes. JinkoUp recognises the usual column names from each tool; change any you like, turn a column into a custom field, or choose Don't import. Set whether dates are written US style (month first) or day first.
  4. 4Review the preview: project name, counts, warnings and the first tasks as they'll appear.
  5. 5Choose what happens to people who aren't in your workspace yet: Leave unassigned and keep their name on the task, or Invite them by email.
  6. 6Click Import. Large projects import in batches with a progress bar; if you close the window, open Import again to continue.

Or connect Asana directly

Direct import is the most accurate way to bring an Asana project across: it keeps sections, subtasks, every custom field with its colors, comments and attachment links.

  1. 1In Asana, click your profile picture → My settings → Apps → Manage developer apps → Create new token, and copy it.
  2. 2In JinkoUp, open Projects → Import → Asana (direct), paste the token and click Connect.
  3. 3Pick the project. Leave Include comments and attachment links on unless the project is very large and you want it faster.
  4. 4JinkoUp reads the project (a progress bar shows how far it is), then shows the same preview as other imports.

The token is used only for this import and is never saved. You can delete it in Asana afterwards.

What comes across

  • Stages from sections, statuses, groups or Trello lists, in the same order.
  • Tasks and subtasks with descriptions, assignees, due dates, completed state, priority and labels. Trello checklist items become subtasks.
  • Custom fields with their values: text, number, currency, date, dropdown, multi-select, checkbox and person. Dropdown colors are kept. Formula and rollup columns come in as text (their current value).
  • Comments (Trello, Asana direct, and CSV columns mapped to Comments) are added to each task as “Originally by … on …”. Jira's repeated Comment columns and ClickUp's comment lists are understood.
  • Attachments come across as links to the original files (for CSV, map the attachments column to Attachment links).

People are matched to your members by email, then by name. Trello exports don't include email addresses, so Trello people are matched by name only and can't be invited from the import.

Undo an import

For 7 days the project shows Imported from … · Undo import. Undo deletes the project and everything the import created, including invitations nobody has accepted yet. After 7 days it becomes a normal project.

Imports create a new project; they don't sync. Changes made later in the other tool aren't brought across.
