Approval workflows
Ask one or more people to approve a task, one after another or all at once, and see who has signed off.
Ask teammates to sign off on a task: a design for a client, a blog post, a budget. Approvals are an optional feature: a workspace admin turns them on in Settings → Features → Approvals.
Request approval
- 1Open the task and find Approval (below Time).
- 2Click Request approval.
- 3Add the approvers. For One after another, put them in order (use the arrow to move someone up).
- 4Choose One after another (the next person is asked once the one before approves) or All at once (everyone is asked now).
- 5Add a note if you like, and tick Mark the task done once it's approved if that's the next step.
- 6Click Send request.
Approvers get a notification in their inbox (and by email, Slack or push if they use them). Approvers must be able to see the task, so for a private project they need to be in it.
Approve, request changes or reject
When it's your turn, the task's Approval section shows Approve, Request changes and Reject, with an optional comment.
- Approve: in a chain, the next person is asked. When everyone has approved, the task is Approved.
- Request changes: the request ends with Changes requested. The requester makes the changes and clicks Request again.
- Reject: the request ends as Rejected.
The requester is notified of the outcome, and every step is recorded in the task's activity.
The Approvals page
Click Approvals in the sidebar to see what's Waiting for me (approve or reject right there), what you've Requested, and what was Recently decided in the last 30 days.
Cancel a request
The person who asked, or a workspace admin, can click Cancel request while it's waiting.
