Portfolios and project status
See the status, progress and deadlines of many projects side by side.
A portfolio is a group of projects you follow together, for example one client's work, a department's projects or this quarter's launches. It shows each project's status, progress, overdue tasks, owner, due date and last activity in one table, with the projects that need attention at the top.
Portfolios is an optional tool, off until an admin turns it on in Settings → Features. It's included in every paid plan.
Create a portfolio
- 1Click Portfolios in the sidebar (under Tools).
- 2Type a name and click Create portfolio.
- 3Click Add projects, tick the projects and click Add.
Set a project's status
Click the status in a project's row (or Set status) and pick On track, At risk, Off track, On hold or Complete. Add a short note such as "Waiting on client copy". Everyone sees who updated it and when.
Anyone who can edit a project can set its status and due date. The status belongs to the project, so it's the same in every portfolio the project is in.
How progress is counted
Progress is the share of the project's top-level tasks that are completed. Overdue counts open tasks whose due date has passed.
Private projects only show to people who can see them. If a portfolio contains private projects you can't see, the page says how many are hidden, without their names.
Creating and editing portfolios is on every paid plan, for admins and for members whose role includes Create and edit portfolios (members have it by default). Turning the feature off later keeps every portfolio and project status.
